Wine Needs to Breathe
This spring, as my wife was thumbing through one of the many wine magazines we subscribe to, she noticed an ad for a wine aerator. As I had been looking for one (I drink some wines a little early and have read they improve the flavor), she pointed it out to me. The ad was for the Vinturi Essential Wine Aerator. It stated:
“WINE NEEDS TO BREATHE”
As wine breathes, it opens up and releases its intended aromas and flavours. Vinturi draws in and mixes the proper amount of air for the right amount of time, allowing your wine to breathe, instantly. You’ll appreciate a better bouquet, enhanced flavours and a smoother finish. Perfect aeration in the time it takes to pour a glass.”
I was intrigued, and researched it via the Internet. We went out and bought one.
The first time we tried the Vinturi I used a 6-month-old Selection Stag’s Leap Merlot. I poured 1 glass from the bottle, and one though the Vinturi. I left the room, and my wife then mixed up the glasses. When I tasted the wines, the first one was okay, but did not have a lot of flavour or taste. The second glass, on the other hand, was fruity and smooth. The Vinturi glass was the second glass.
I use the Vinturi Aerator with most red wines and some young whites.
To me, this was a great investment. It improves young wines, smoothing out the taste, while greatly enhancing older wines. As we all know one of the most difficult thing for winemakers to do is let our wines age enough. The Vinturi is the answer to this problem.
Not a gimmick. The Vinturi Aerator works. It’s used and sold in over 70 Wineries in California and is even on Oprah’s ‘O List”.
Thanks, dear!
