The LE17 Pre-Order Deadline is Near!

November 30, 2017

This year’s LE17 collection is looking like a great line up. One of the unique things about this year collection is that all 5 wines are from different countries. Usually you will see at least two wines from the same country. This year we’re offering wines from Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Spain and Italy!

5 wines from 5 countries that will give you a diverse collection in your wine rack that will have you prepared for any occasion or food pairing: A Dry and Off-Dry white and three reds that are Medium, Medium-Full and Full-Bodied!

The Pre-Order Deadline is this Saturday!

You can visit this page to see videos about each wine and video recipe that will pair with each wine!

Although we do bring in extra kits- we are well ahead of last year’s pre-order numbers so that means their will be few kits available if you don’t pre-order!

Don’t miss out- the five LE wines are always in the Top 10 Best Sellers for the year and they are only available for a month or two at max!!

Learning in Wine Country!

October 27, 2017

Last month Wine Sense Managers visited Niagara On The Lake for Management Training. The Niagara region is the heart of Ontario’s wine region and is a wonderful place to visit wineries and experience the wine lifestyle. The town of Niagara On The Lake is a beautiful place loaded with Canadian history and very close to Niagara Falls.

We started our trip with a store management training session from Kevin Graff of Graff Retail, North America’s leading retail training organization. The session was a starting point to continued training focusing on how to better run our stores.

Winexpert and Vineco- ourtwo wine kit brands are owned by Andrew Peller Limited– we visited their Ontario Wine Kit Production facility and warehouse. We were able to see the production process from Juice Storeage, to blending and production to the bag and in the box. It’s an impressive and industry leading plant. We then stopped a the distribution warehouse to see where our orders are picked, packed and shipped from.

To cap it off we visited three of the Andrew Peller Limited Wineries- Peller Estates, Trius and Wayne Gretzky Estate Winery and Distillery. We toured the Wineries on bike and outside of one scraped knee (don’t take photos while riding a bike) it went very well. Peller Estates features the 10 Below Ice Wine Tasting Room and the the Gretzky Winery and Distillery is a must visit for any wine, whiskey or hockey fan!

It was an educational and fun trip to wine country- We look forward to sharing what we learned with all of our customers!

It’s Been a While!

October 19, 2017

Wow- It’s been a loooong time since our last post. A lot has gone on since 2015 when the Provincial Government allowed On-Site Winemaking in Manitoba. We were the second last province Canada to allow it (only Alberta remains) and it came as a pleasant surprise so there was lots of work to do.

We used to just have shelves of wine kits- now we have shelves of wine too!

But in that time we:

-Converted 3 of our existing stores to accommodate In-store Wineries and Bottling Stations.

-Doubled the size of our Portage Avenue location and added an In-Store Winery.

-Relocated our Springfield Road store to a larger location at Kildonan Crossing (located at the North West corner of Regent and Lagimodiere) to accommodate On-Site Winemaking.

-Relocated our Pembina Highway location to a larger location at 827 Dakota Street (across from St.Vital Center) to accommodate On-Site Winemaking.

-We’ve doubled the number of staff (and that number is still growing) we employ and have trained all staff  regarding this exciting new aspect of our business…

…and made over 400,000 bottles of wine!

We’ve had excellent support from Global Vintners Inc. GVI is the Wine Kit division of Andrew Peller Limited Canada’s largest Canadian owned winemaker and the manufacturer of our wine kits. So we’re had lots of knowledge and guidance to help us along the way.

And with that we are pleased to say we have a customer satisfaction rate of over 99% for the wine we are making for our customers!

So with the excitement out of the way we will once again be more regular with our Blog postings- as we were in the past.
