Last night I picked up a couple of pizza’s for supper. I was very pleased with how
good the Limited Edition Italian Brunello (2009 Limited Edition Program) went with basic pepperoni pizza. The fruit and tannins in the Brunell balanced wonderfully with the sauce and spice of the pepperoni.
Brunello is a perfect Italian food wine and will pair well with any tomato based Italian foods.

On Saturday after work I decided to open a bottle of the Traminer-Riesling blend by Selection International. This is a nice easy to drink blend of two very tasty grapes- Gewurztraminer and Riesling. It was sweet on the front end with notes of crisp apples on the finish. Traminer-Riesling would be a nice patio wine without being as fruity or sweet as a ‘mist wine’. It’s wonderful on its own or will pair nicely with simply prepared salmon or chicken.

On a recent day off I decided to try the Limited Edition Australian Shiraz
Viognier from the 2010 Limited Edition program. I bottled it in late January.
This was the wine I liked the most at November’s Limited Edition Tastings and the kit does not disappoint. It displays the nice fruit flavours and spice that Shiraz is known for and the really unique flavour and amplified fruitiness that comes from the Viognier.
Now the hard part will be staying away from it!
Cheers,
